BELCHATOW, Poland. Jan 24 — Carlo Costly has now officially joined FC Vaslui. On Friday he signed a 3.5-year contract - confirmed the Romanian club.
The Hondurarin international has been in Romania since Tuesday. It was there where he discussed the details of the contract agreement, and passed medical tests. FC Vaslui and PGE GKS Belchatow have already agreed on a transfer sum.
"I came here to win championship," boldly announced Costly after arriving in Romania.
Costly played in PGE GKS Belchatow since 2007, his contract was to end in six months. In the league he played 59 games scored 14 goals.
Last year he was loaned to English outfit Birmingham City, but later returned to Poland. He then helped Honduras advance to FIFA World Cup in South Africa, being named one of their most important players.
Costly was one of the other three foreigners playing the Polish Ekstraklasa that will appear in the FIFA World Cup 2010 - the others being Wisla Krakow's Andraz Kirm (Slovenia), Legia Warsaw's Jan Mucha (Slovakia).
FC Vaslui itself is a young club, founded only in 2002, but three years later it already started playing in the Romanian elite.
In this current season it is fighting for the Romanian championship. After 17 rounds it has only lost four points to CFR Cluj. It's coach Romania's famous footballer, Marius Lăcătuş.
