WIGAN, England. Feb 04 — Young rated Tomasz Cywka has been linked to a move to Lechia Gdansk - reports Gazeta Wyborcza.
The player ensures that he also has offers from other clubs. But will he be the next Polish player, who at a young age will leave Western football and take a 'step down' to play in the Polish Ekstraklasa?
However, there is not much chance for him to play on the 'The Latics' first-team (only a few appearances made in 3.5 years at the club), so the Pole now wants to change clubs, especially to one where he will get a chance to show his skill. He admits his primary aim is to play on the Polish national team.
Cywka's contract with the English club ends at the end of the year, but the midfielder is not willing to wait and wants to play now - suggesting a loan move to Wigan officials.
"I only play in the reserves and that's not enough for me," he complained.
"I will soon hold talks with other clubs. I must admit that Lechia is one option, but not the only one. I have a couple options from both Polish and from abroad,"
Lechia coach Tomasz Kafarski acknowledges that the subject of Cywka landing at Gdansk is very real, but at the same time admits he does not know how it will finish. This is because negotiations are at a very early stage.
Jaroslaw Fojut, Kamil Glik, Krzysztof Krol, and Kamil Wilczek - are all players who were until recently known in big European clubs, but they had no chance to play in the first teams. So they came back to the Ekstraklasa, where critics believe their careers have gone into a standstill.
Michal Janota of Feyenoord is soon to be another possible example, which he is believed to already be one foot in KKS Lech Poznan.
Cywka's hometown is Bytom, where Ekstraklasa outfit Polonia Bytom plays. He joined Wgan from Minor leaguer Gwarek Zabrze.
