VIAREGGIO, Italy. Feb 04 — Mloda Legia drew AS Livorno Calcio U-20 to a 1-1 match in their second game in the Viareggio Cup tournament.

This is the first, and a historical match for the Polish team in one of the most important youth football tournaments in the world (U-20).

In 19. minute Liverno's Ossou gave the Italian team an early lead. The lone goal for Legia was scored in 45. minute of the match by Adam Banasiak, who took advantage of a penalty kick. This is the first goal scored by a Polish team in this tournament since 1976, when Wisla Krakow lost to UC Sampdoria 2:4.

The Legion had a chance to tilt the tide in their favor, but lacked finishing which cost them an even more historical victory.

"We should have earned the win, and the draw is not a fortunate result for us," commented on the official Legia website, Director of Legia's Football Academy, Jacek Mazurek.

The encounter with AS Livorno Calcio was the Legion's second match in the tournament. Previously, the Poles were thrashed in their first match 3-0 by Juventus FC. On Friday, the next group match will occur as the Mloda Legia takes on Vicenza Calcio U-20.

Viareggio Cup is one the biggest youth competitions in the world, known as the world club championship in the category of U-20. The tournament has the status of an official competition from FIFA and UEFA.

Many players began their international career from this tournament as Angelo Di Livio, Robert Prosinečki, Gianluca Pagliuca and Roberto Baggio.

Mloda Legia is the U-20 side of capital club Legia Warsaw FC, which features in the Mloda Ekstraklasa - a youth football league composed of the top youth teams of the Ekstraklasa sides, used primarily as a reserve league.

Now that is something to build on, sure most of them will never see the pitch but for those who eventually do you see how fast the game is and what it takes to be the best.
