BELCHATOW, Poland. July 22 (PS) — Not in Polonia Warszawa but in PGE GKS Belchatow is where Marcin Zewlakow will play next season.

The former Poland international has signed a one-year deal contract to play with the Polish Ekstraklasa side with an option to extend for another season.

Zewlakow played for Poland during the 2002 FIFA World Cup in Japan and Korea, and scored 94 league goals in Belgium, 14 in Cyprus and participated in the UEFA Champions League, where he scored a goal at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea FC - in short, he is a very interesting addition to the team from Belchatow.

Born in 1976 in Poland, Zewlakow performed so far only in the capital's clubs: Drukarzu, Marymont, Hutnik and Polonia Warszawa, which he later moved to the Belgian side SK Beveren, and after a year there he joined Excelsior Mouscron.

In the 2005-06 season he played in 13 matches for the French outfit FC Metz, not soon after returning to defend the colors of Belgium KAA Gent and FCV Dender EH. The last two seasons Zewlakow spent in Cyprus playing in APOEL FC, where he won the championship and the Super Cup.

On Friday, "Zewlak" agreed to join PGE GKS, after rejecting an offer from Polonia.

Twelve years after his first match in Poland, Zewlakow will probably will play against his former club - Polonia Warszawa (July 30 in Belchatow).

Good deal for him. Also, if he does get back into good goalscoring form I think he should be given another chance to play for the bialo-czerwoni. Given the fact that Poland have not been scoring goals at all he can't be that much worse than what Poland have now!
