MAINZ, Germany. Mar 19 (PS) — Two months ago we learned news about the possibility of Eugen Polanski playing for the Polish national team, now Poland boss Franciszek Smuda has finally spoken with Polanski. What is his answer?

All the fans in the country are waiting for the decision of the 24-year-old midfielder, will he represent Poland or Germany? At the moment we will all still have to wait for an answer.

"I am aware that in Poland, one may be impatient, but I simply had no time to rethink everything. I want to make a decision as soon as possible. At the very end of the Bundesliga season the Polish fans will learn what my plans are." said Polanski, a former German youth international.

"I was positively surprised by the meeting with coach Smuda. He did not put any pressure on me. I learned what my task would be on the national team, and of what would be expected of me. He understood when I asked him for some time to think things through. In the end it is a decision that can change my whole life." added the 1. FSV Mainz 05 defensive midfielder.

The player understands that he has very little chance to make the German national team, where as playing for the white and red may be his only option to play in the international stage.

"I know how many great midfielders are available to the Joachim Loew. I do not give myself great self-hope whenever the call-ups for Germany are announced. I am seriously thinking about playing for Poland, but because it would be a final decision, it must be well thought out."

Midfielder with great work-rate and size. He doesn't score much at all but he is the guy that does all of the dirty work.
He, IMHO, is like Radoslav Kovac of West Ham & Czech.
