Polish clubs fail in Europe - at home

BIALYSTOK, Poland. July 29 (PS) — All three of the clubs representing Poland and the Polish Ekstraklasa failed to take away any points in the UEFA Europa League Third Qualifying Round on Thursday.

Ruch Chorzow, Wisla Krakow, and REMES Puchar Polski 2010 winners Jagiellonia Bialystok all played their fixtures at home - all finished with 0 points.

 
Sparta home winner disappoints Lech

PRAGUE, Czech Republic. July 27 (PS) — Erich Brabec scored the only goal late on as the Czech champions eked out a first-leg advantage against their Polish counterparts.

Sparta win at home with a lone goal. Final score: AC Sparta Prague 1-0 KKS Lech Poznan.

 
Luck on Ruch's side, Wisła dominate

KRAKOW, Poland. July 22 (PS) — Wisla Krakow without any problems tackled it's rival with ease and advances to the next round of the UEFA Europa League.

Meanwhile, Ruch Chorzow faced harsh criticism from their poor performance on Thursday, but also with the help of luck will join Wisla in the next round.

 
Lech Poznan through after penalty shoot-out

POZNAN, Poland. July 21 (PS) — Goalkeeper Giorgi Lomaia's missed penalty put the Polish champions into the third qualifying round after their first-leg lead had been wiped out. Final score: KKS Lech Poznan 0-1 FC Inter Baku (agg: 1-1, Lech win 9-8 on pens).

KKS Lech Poznan lost on home soil but nevertheless booked a third qualifying round tie against AC Sparta Praga after beating FC Inter Baku 9-8 in a dramatic penalty shoot-out.
